Final Round-Up - 19.05.18

By Simon Harrison

We round off the season with the final game of the 2017/18 campaign.

Saturday 19th May saw the last action of the 2017/18 season as Uppermill hosted Hindley Juniors in Division Two.

Some of the divisions were completed last weekend while some eventually finished on Tuesday night but Saturday brought the current season to a close.

Uppermill were the winners with Nathan Driscoll and Ben Ford scoring a goal apiece in the 2-0 victory, their fourth of the season and with the three points they moved up a place to seventh, leaving their opponents rooted to the bottom in their debut season.

So that's all, folks, finally the season is over after many moments thinking it may not happen.

As you will have noticed, the weather caused everyone a large amount of inconvenience on many weekends which led to severe backlogs of fixtures in both the league and cup competitions.

It's been a difficult campaign for all of us and we as a League appreciate all the countless hours of time and effort that all clubs have put in throughout the season to make it another successful one, especially in our 125th year.

Enjoy your summer holidays, whatever your plans may be, we will see you all back in August to do it all again.

Where next?

President's Page League President John Hyde has his final say before the summer break.
