Fixture Release Day: Part III

4 months ago By Simon Harrison

The Manchester Football League can now unveil the fixtures for Divisions Three, Four and Five.

The Manchester Football League can reveal the opening day fixtures for Division Three, Division Four and Division Five in #MFLFixtureReleaseDay Part III.

The 2017/18 season will see a record-number of teams within the reserves’ divisions at 34 teams and will be eagerly anticipated by all involved. The MFL are proud to have accepted new applications off clubs from outside the league as well as new teams from existing member clubs.

With this in mind, rather than having two large divisions of 17 teams in each, a decision was made to re-jig the formation and spread them across three smaller divisions.

New Formation
Division Three will have 12 teams and will consist of the 12 highest-placed teams from the 2016/17 Division Two final standings.

Division Four will also contain 12 teams and will be made up from the remaining 3 teams from the 2016/17 Division Two and the 9 highest placed teams from Division Three; while 10 teams will be competing in Division Five. These will be the remainder of teams from Division Three plus the new teams that have been accepted for the coming campaign.

Opening Day Summary
Division Three will commence on Saturday 19th August while Divisions Four and Five will begin on Saturday 26th August and will contain no midweek fixtures at the beginning of the season. Here is a brief summary of the opening day fixtures across Divisions Three, Four and Five.

Division Three
The Division Three campaign will kick off when Wilmslow Albion Reserves host the 'old Division Two' champions Stockport Georgians Reserves at Oakwood Farm on Saturday 19th August.

On Saturday 26th August there will be a full schedule of fixtures in Division Three. Avro Reserves get their campaign underway at their new ground as they host Hindsford Reserves at the Vestacare Stadium.

All games kick off at 2pm.
