League President John Hyde has his say before the new campaign kicks off.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Still the old form of address although I accept in theses "gender neutral" times I should probably say something like "People or Everybody" but I'm old and old habits die hard!

So here we are almost at the start of another season, seems only days ago that we finished the last and I know that lots of you have had little or no time off what with getting the pitch sorted, painting the dressing rooms etc etc, but here we go again!

We have had the AGM and a clubs meeting in the close season so I have little new to say, but a couple of reminders:

1. All payments to the League and by the League WILL be made by BACS only. Please don't send cheques.
2. We have clubs in the League who have first teams that play at a higher level and which MAY contain players on contracts. Remember that Contract Players are NOT ALLOWED AT OUR LEVEL and so will not be registered in the Manchester Football League.
3. I know it's early but if for any reason you have to postpone a game please do it in accordance with League rules.

At the latest Management Committee meeting, we welcomed to the committee Michelle Simpson from Uppermill, who will be the Clubs' Representative for clubs in Divisions 1 and 2. If you are in these divisions and have a problem - speak to her, she will do her best to help out and if this isn't possible she will bring it to the rest of the Management Committee.

I'm sure you will all join me in insisting her every success in her new role.

Some of you will be already aware that the League have an "App" this season which has been announced recently; The App will contain a lot of the information you need and will be easier to access than the website. I understand that the App will work on all smart phones Android or Apple.

The media man Simon will no doubt answer any questions you have about the App or anything relating to the media side of things. Check the website or Facebook and Twitter for the press release.

That's it, I wish you all the best for the forthcoming season, hope you all do well and avoid serious injuries. It is my intention to visit as many grounds as I can again this year so I hope to see all of you at some stage.......If you have refreshments, no sugar in my coffee thanks!

Take care everybody, enjoy your football and, as ever, if you have a problem, don't tell someone else......tell me!!

Yours in Sport,
John.
