Rochdale Sacred Heart remain top of the Premier Division despite suffering their first defeat of the campaign. Having had a 100% record before Saturday’s tie with Springhead, RSH would have been deemed ‘favourites’ but it was the hosts who would be victorious on this occasion. Matt Landregan netted his ninth of the season along with Tim Astley’s first goal for the visitors but Jordan Hall (2), Matt Dixon and Ryan Hanson all scored for Springhead to seal their first win since the opening day.
Now the only team to boast a perfect start to the campaign are Hindsford who picked up a 5-1 victory at Heyside. Jake Haslam’s hat-trick helped the ten-men Tonics to the three points along with Alex Honeyball and Liam Jones goals with Callum Viner scoring Heyside’s reply.
Faisal Raisi scored the only goal at Radcliffe Road which sealed the three points for Bolton County to inflict a fourth-straight defeat for Royton Town. The win moves County up to third and are now three points off the leaders while Town remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Chadderton Reserves collected their first win of the season courtesy of Sam Traynor’s first half strike against Pennington. The three points moves Chaddy up to ninth place, leapfrogging themselves over their opponents in the process.
Beechfield United made it consecutive wins on Saturday after their five-goal thriller with Heywood St James. The hosts won 3-2 at Salford Sports Village where Callum Lee and Ashley McCabe both scored for Jimmies in their second defeat of the season.
Sam Boylan’s hat-trick helped his Manchester Gregorians side to a well-deserved three points as they defeated Walshaw Sports at Bolton St Cathertines. Joe Copland scored the other goal in the 4-0 win which moves them into seventh while Walshaw are yet to get off the mark.
Bolton Lads and Girls sit top of the table with a 100% record after they won 3-1 at home to Boothstown. Chris Beatty, Jay Ralphson and Robbie Gibson were on target for the hosts at Hacken Lane, giving them a two-point lead over second place while Kieron Morris scored for Boothstown.
Elton Vale are the only other team in the division yet to taste defeat and sit in second place following their 1-0 win at home to Uppermill. Shane Birtles scored the only goal of the game in the first half which then went onto prove to be the difference in this tight affair.
It ended honours even at Wright Robinson where East Manchester, who ended the game with nine men, held Atherton Town to a 2-2 draw. Tom Beswick scored from the penalty spot and Jordan Ware also found the net before he was sent off for East. Ben Rodgers and Matt Jackson scored Town’s goals to clinch their first point of the season.
Moorside Rangers secured their first win of the season at the second attempt on Saturday when they welcomed Tintwistle Athletic to Agecroft Farm. Liam Dorrian, Ruben Rose and Kaden Goodman all scored for Rangers in their 3-1 win while Josh Bridge netted for Tinny who are yet to taste victory this season.
Bolton United are the new league leaders after they made it five wins from five on Saturday. Nadir Patel was instrumental yet again in his side’s success as he scored a hat-trick, to take his tally to eleven for the season, to lead them to a 6-2 win over AFC Burnley. Ibrahim Patel, Amin Munshi and Safwan Patel also scored for the hosts with Aaron Halliday and Oliver Wood getting Burnley’s goals.
Avro Reserves made it back-to-back wins when they hosted Hollinwood, ending their perfect start to the season. Lewis Unwin, Kevin Zokou and Rilwan Yusuf all scored in the 3-1 win at the Vestacare Stadium. Nathan Bourne’s tenth goal of the season was only a consolation on the day for the visitors.
Avenue’s fantastic start to the season continued after they defeated Breightmet United at Moss Park. Carlton Norford scored twice in the 4-1 win, taking his tally to thirteen for the season already, Tyler Smith and James Tudor also scoring for the visitors. Gary McShane scored United’s goal as they continue on the hunt for their first points of the season.
Daisy Hill Development got their first victory since their MFL debut when they played fellow newcomers Cavaliers. Lewis Shore (2), Brandon Mann (2) and Alfa Umaro all scored in the 5-0 win which moves them up to tenth place while Cavaliers remain without a point from their first three games.
Bolton Borough sit in fifth place after a 5-0 win at Hindley Juniors. The victory is their third of the campaign and will be happy with their start in their debut season.
Also scoring five were Astley and Tyldesley when they welcomed Oldham Community to Gin Pit Village. Kaiden Stanistreet (2), Alec Crowder, Keeran Parker and Shaun Torr all scored in the 5-1 win, inflicting a fourth-straight defeat on the Oldham side.
Leigh Genesis won for the first time since the opening day thanks to a single Jack Boardman goal. The first half goal earned the hosts a 1-0 win over Manchester Central who suffered their fourth defeat since their MFL return.
