Wednesday evening saw the remaining four Premier Division teams play their second game of the campaign following the six fixtures played on Tuesday night.
Avro welcomed Walshaw Sports to their new home with both sides having got off the mark on the opening weekend. Avro edged out Hindsford in a five-goal thriller while Walshaw came away from AFC Monton with a point after sharing four goals. However, it was the home side who collected all three points and keep their 100% start with an impressive but comfortable 7-0 win at the Vestacare Stadium.
Chris Howell scored twice to add to goals from Callum Jackson, Louis Potts, Liam Bennion, Mason Dunkley and an own goal to lift the Failsworth side to the summit of the Premier Division table.
In the evening’s other fixture, Crossford Bridge was the venue as Old Alts hosted Manchester Gregorians with both teams looking to register their first points of the season after their respective opening day defeats to Heyside and East Manchester.
The hosts started off the better of the two teams and took the lead midway through the first half thanks to Kerrim Calliste. Alts failed to capitalise on their chances and were made to pay for it when Harry Kilbride netted his second goal of the season to level it up at one-apiece early on in the second half. Alts finished the game with ten men after Rico Colulo was given his marching orders but they managed to see it out leaving both sides with a point each.
