Wythenshawe Amateurs Reserves fly the flag on the County scene on Friday night as they contest the Manchester FA Amateur Cup Final, facing AFC Middleton at Ewen Fields.
The men from Hollyhedge Park have made it through to their first ever County Cup final and the management are very proud to get the Club and the team the recognition it deserves.
The Ammies may only sit in eighth position in the MFL Division Three but they have only played six, yes six, league games so far this season as a result of the weather which has affected the majority of the country. That is just one more game than what they have played in the Manchester Amateur Cup on the road to the final.
They have seen off South Manchester, AFC Oldham, Beechfield United Res, Baguley Athletic and the current holders Failsworth Dynamos scoring an impressive 35 goals along the way.
Wythenshawe's opponents on Friday are AFC Middleton who play in the first division of the Manchester Saturday Morning Football League. They have progressed to the final scoring 23 goals and had a bye in the third round and qualifying via a penalty shoot out in the quarter final.
It makes for a very entertaining game and one that we are all looking forward to.
Good luck, Ammies!
