It is with regret that the Manchester Football League will have to postpone the Gilgryst Cup final scheduled to be played at Hyde United FC, on Sunday 13th June 2021.
An allegation has been made concerning the eligibility of a plyer playing in one of the semi-final ties, last weekend. As such, the League Management Committee (LMC) are bound to investigate the nature of the allegation, and given the shortage of time to be able to fully investigate this, the LMC feel that to give the possible offending Club the right to challenge the allegation through a hearing, more time is necessary.
The League will look at re-arranging the final tie, once the allegation has been proved or disproved.
The League regrets this course of action, but to be fair to all parties, it is left with little room to manoeuvre.
It should be stressed that one of the Clubs in the final, Springhead AFC, are not involved in this case.
The League will make no further statement at this time.
